There are many different things you will be trained on as a Homeland Security Specialist in the field of criminal justice. These things include juvenile justice, American legal systems, constitutional law, cultural diversity in criminal justice, techniques and technologies, and countering terrorism.

As a specialist in Homeland Security, you will need to be educated and trained on juvenile justice. This is because the theories cover the emergence of a terrorist’s mindset. Terrorists are raised and learning the roots of the delinquency problems such as abuse and neglect can help raise flags about certain individuals.

You will also need to have a clean understanding of the American legal systems as a homeland security specialist. The conventional hierarchy of the legal system should be clearly understood because you will be an employee of this system.

The interests of society and the rights of individuals are being weighed and are a primary concern of police officers today. As an agent of homeland security you will deal with the constantly changing and evolving area of law enforcement working with police and officers.

Cultural diversity is very important as a homeland security officer. You need to know the different cultures of the people you are responsible for policing. Agents need to be able to narrow down the variables of the different cultures of individuals. This is not a risk an agent can afford taking if they don’t know the different backgrounds and cultures. Culture norms change all of the time for people and it is important to stay educated and on top of the different changes.

One of the jobs you might have as a homeland security agent is to catch coyotes at the border trying to smuggle in illegal drugs and illegal aliens into the country. This is an ongoing problem in the United States and the need for homeland security agents is growing dramatically.

Most of the jobs as homeland security agents reside at the border of Mexico. The problems with illegal drugs being brought into the United States are astounding. The amount of dangerous criminals crossing the borders illegally is even worse. There are hundreds of people dying each year from dehydration and heat exhaustion trying to make it in the high temperatures. Homeland security agents are needed to lower these numbers and provide safety for the citizens of the country.

As a Homeland Security Specialist in the criminal justice field you will be working closely with local law enforcements and you will be very savvy on the legal system and how it works. The primary needs today for agents is at the border of Mexico to stop the heavy drug trafficking and the illegal aliens from crossing the border.

As you can see, the homeland security agent plays many roles and duties in the criminal justice field. There are a lot more roles and duties than I can cover in this short article.

In you are interested in the homeland security career, I encourage you to do more research on the internet. You can do this by visiting websites that cover the profession in more detail. This will help you decide if this career is indeed for you.

If you’ve had a job you likely have a story of a boss from hell. Thanks to the Web, the victims of these bozo bosses no longer have to suffer in silence; they share loudly and long about their nemeses. Forced overtime, canceled vacations, and reprimands for taking needed sick leave are just the beginning of some bosses’ insensitivities.

Some boss behavior may be over the legal line and border on harassment, discrimination, or even improperly denying leave requests. If you’re working for this type of boss, you need to file a complaint with HR, your boss’s boss or an outside agency. But most times, a bad boss’s behavior is perfectly legal, although it might drive those who work for him or her to commit unlawful acts!

In my experience, bad bosses come in four types, each one requiring a slightly different strategy. First identify what kind of boss you’re dealing with, then try some of my tips to cope.

Micromanager (MMs)

Micromanagers will drive you batty. Perfectionist micromanagers are obsessed with control, convinced that the world will come to an end if certain details aren’t perfect.

What works with this kind of boss? Not much. As with most people, they are who they are. Your best survival strategy is surrender: Take their skills and use them to your advantage. Learn everything you possibly can.

Whether talent, political skills, organizational incompetence, or sleeping with the boss propelled him or her to the top doesn’t matter. The organization thinks he or she should be the boss and you’re stuck with that wrong-headed view. It’s you-–not they-–who needs to adapt. Remember: Your boss may not always be right, but he or she is always the boss.

Conflict Avoiders (Cas)

This type of boss can cause the most woe in any workplace. CAs duck decisions and assign roles in a hazy manner so no one will be annoyed with him or her. The problem is that employees then express the conflicts the boss habitually avoids.

The solution? It’s what I call the “beyond” trick. Employees sit down and work together to compile three lists– the conflicts they’ve historically harbored, current hot issues, and ‘beyond issues,’ which are those they continually bicker about but have no control. This is usually the biggest list and contains decisions the boss needs to make.

Present the list to your boss and ask that he or she make the decisions necessary to resolve the issues. If that doesn’t work, you have the option of going to a higher authority, or looking for a new job.

Clueless Incompetents (CIS)

The good news about these bosses is that they may be happy to have you do the work, since they’re frequently lazy as well as incompetent. Why is this good news? Because if you love the job or the field you’re in, the work itself can be worth it. Their attitude may also enable you to take over projects that could give you valuable experience and contacts. The risk? Don’t count on their help if you get in over your head. Also beware that you don’t become tarnished with the brush of the talentless person you work for.

If you work for a CI you need to be sure to document everything – preferably through e-mails to your boss and at least one other person, if appropriate. Why email? Because you can prove that your boss received it.

Devils Incarnate (Dis)

DIs might not actually be evil, but they certainly do a good imitation of that state; manipulative, overbearing, demanding, and demeaning, and they make the other problem bosses pale in comparison.

If you find yourself working for a DI you need to assess your boss and decide whether he or she is merely good at what he or she does or hit-the-ball-out-of the part GREAT! If not the latter, then, it’s probably not worth the pain.

If you decide to stay in the job, you must constantly ask yourself, “How high am I willing to jump?” Don’t lose yourself or your ideals in the bargain, but do take what you can get – which can be substantial if you can stand the heat. Take what you need and leave the rest. Vote with your feet when you can’t continue to manage the dynamic, and hold onto your soul. Just don’t give up too soon.

And remember, bosses, like other mere mortals, suffer personal problems, illness and other mood and character disorders. If you have such a boss, you have my sympathy. Be careful not to stay so long that it damages your self-esteem or your sanity. Your own health is more important than any job. You can always fire your boss by choosing to walk away and out the door.

Seniors rank as one of this nation’s most valuable, natural resources and treasures. They place right up on top of the value charts with gold, petroleum and that old standby timber.

As the population of seniors mushrooms dramatically, retirement communities are springing up all over the countryside, in almost every state.

Youngsters, people not yet fifty years of age, are under the impression that if anything happens in these communities it is done in painful slow motion.

Little do the uninitiated know that these concentrations of seniors are becoming virtual hothouses of activity.

A few of the usual pursuits in the typical retirement community are present, such as sports, recreation, practice of the arts, furthering personal education and hobbies, and the list goes on ad infinitum.

But there are other activities popping up in senior communities:

* Retired Physicians are learning carpentry.

* Former plumbers are studying the law.

* Housewives are becoming licensed accountants.

* Pensioned police officers are studying medicine.

* Past business owners are becoming politicians.

* Discharged military veterans are seeking employment.

What on earth ever happened to the classic picture of seniors sitting on the front porch in rocking chairs?

And all the while napping the hours away as the years dwindle down to a precious few?

Seniors of the present are definitely not the elder citizens of times past.

Retirement today from an occupation or career does not mean the end of goals or ambition.

Instead it only serves as the gateway to opportunities they have long put on hold and let simmer below the surface.

The pool of latent talent and education has long existed in retirement neighborhoods and communities. But these basic skills multiply wondrously when the work and life experiences of the seniors are blended into the mix.

The results are a vast, mature, group of individuals possessing a strong work ethic tempered by education and experience.

In a nutshell…seniors are a valuable and very real natural resource.

And the realities of events now developing in the economics of the nation as a whole has ripened the mixture. This has brought about a change in the seniors’ mental outlook.

1. The labor force in the U. S. is aging, and experts estimate that as many as fifteen million plus jobs will become vacant through retirement in the next few years.

2. The existing labor force in the country is falling short of younger people entering the market to fill vacant positions, and this will increase as time goes on.

3. Social Security is becoming an endangered program.

4. All the above is forcing the labor market, and elder citizens, to look at each other with covetous eyes.

The situation is fortuitous for seniors. They have marketable skills and experience. Because of the labor shortage looming on the horizon, they can almost pick and choose where they want to work.

But they must first polish their job search skills

The increase in health expenses is with us now. And there is no abating of medical costs in the foreseeable future. The present is a good time for seniors to consider hedging their income with a suitable employment position, either part or full time.

The future of Social Security and medicare are in jeopardy. This should add impetus to mature citizens to increase their work skills in any vocation they find attractive.

Seniors, the time is right…take advantage of it now!

If you were asked what tools you would need to find the right job, what would you say? You would probably mention a highlighter and a newspaper, a resume’, a cover letter, and the internet. All of these are definitely correct. You have to look for the right job in the right places and you have to have a resume’ to highlight your expertise. Without any of these, you have nothing to work with.

But let us take a moment and look at what the internet has to offer. Of course you have job search sites, you have resume’ submission services, and you have websites that you can post your resume’ on for prospective employers to review. Sounds like everything you need, doesn’t it? Well, that’s everything you need to find companies that are interested in you. But once a company shows interest in you, how do you know if that is truly a good company to work for? You see the job description and it looks good, their website looks nice, you meet their qualifications, but you have no idea what actually goes on behind the closed doors of the business. This is where the internet plays an even bigger role.

If you really want to know what goes on behind closed doors, you can check out a website that has opened its doors to former and current employees of companies to share their experiences. There is no better way to find out what really happens than to speak with the individuals who experience it or have experienced it at one time. These are the things that you would never find out during the interview process. These are normally the things that you find out when you’ve been working there for a week and other employees are wondering why you ever applied. Not because you are bad at your job, but because they are unhappy and do not understand why anyone would subject themselves to that. The truth is, you didn’t know. But by communicating with these employees before applying, you can make an informed decision as to whether or not to apply for a job with the company.

There are also ratings available. If you see a company with a one or two star rating (out of a possible five), then you know that that company is one you do not want to apply for. If you see a company with a four or five star rating, then you know that you have found gold. Three star ratings signify that the company is in between. These are usually those with mixed reviews, so it is entirely up to you whether or not to apply.

Nevertheless, the idea is to provide you, the prospective employee, with another tool to help you find the right job. This is a great way to narrow down your prospects if you are torn between a number of companies and is also a great way to ensure that you are not going to have too many surprises once work begins. You can have a good idea of what you’re walking into, which means you could possibly find your career.

http://www.workvent.com is a tool for potential applicants to review prospective employers through the experiences and ratings provided by current and former employees of these companies. This aids individuals in making an informed decision about which companies to seek employment with.

Everyone has a bad experience with their job at one time or another, but the occasional bad experience doesn’t constitute walking out the door and never coming back. Some individuals do this, but there are many who don’t. Then again, there are those who walk out the door because they have ample reason to do so. This can be due to bad treatment from a boss or another employee, business practices that are not moral, or the job is not what it was said to be.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where competition is what feeds the fire and sometimes those in superior positions abuse their positions. They do this by taking their frustrations out on their employees or using their power as a way to get what they want in a negative way. This sometimes leads to verbal abuse in the workplace, which is becoming way too prevalent today. That is why there are laws protecting employees against such treatment, but sometimes the treatment occurs anyway. There are also times in which an employee may be asked to do something that is not moral and has nothing to do with company policy.

These may seem like harsh scenarios, but they do happen. They happen every single day. Fortunately, there is a way to avoid landing a job that could put you in a bad position one day. There really are companies out there that have high moral standards, company policy that makes sure everything is done right, strong policies against harassment and mistreatment, and provides a correct representation of themselves to employees upon hiring. It is amazing how many employees are given one impression of the job during an interview to find that the job is something entirely different once they become settled.

The way to avoid falling into another bad job experience is to look at what others have to say about the company. There is no better way to get information than from the inside because those on the inside can tell you what they see each and every day. If it is positive, they will tell you if it is positive. If it is negative, they will tell all about it. And how you can find this out is by visiting a website that offers all of this information.

Through such a website, you can see what others have to say about their experiences working for the company that you wish to work for. You can also see how these individuals rate these places of employment. This is a great way to find out if the company you wish to apply for is the company that you should really work for. This is called making an informed decision and it is an informed decision that could change your life. What is amazing is that a simple visit to a website can do this and actually help you find the career that you have been looking for all along.

http://www.workvent.com provides potential employees with the necessary information they need to make an informed decision on finding the right company. This is done by allowing current and former employees to share their experiences and provide ratings.

With daily volume sales of around 3 trillion dollars a day, the Commodity Forex Online Trading market is by far the largest financial trading market in the world. Also known as Forex, the Commodity Forex Online is referred to as FX, Spot FX or even Spot.

If you have ever wonder how big the Commodity Forex Online Trading market is, then be prepared to be truly astounded. Indeed the New York Stock Exchange is a midget in comparison as it “only” trades an average of 2 billion dollars a day. In fact combine both the Stock and the Futures market, multiply it by Three and you’ll arrive at a market comparable to that of the Forex Trading market. Did you ever imagine it would have been as big as that?

And just in case you are asking yourself what is that banks trade in Forex Trading, the answer is simple. Money! Loads of it obviously and always in pairs! You see, the simultaneous exchange of one currency against the other is indeed what Forex Trading is and this exchange always takes place in pairs, as in Euro dollar for US dollar (EUR/USD) or the British pound for Japanese Yen (GBP/JPY). And when I mentioned earlier that Commodity Forex Online Trading market was traded by banks, I was partially right as you will discover later on in this article!

Back in earlier times, when money hadn’t been invented and things were seemingly simpler, local economies relied on the principle of bartering when one product was exchanged for another. The value of each product was set by how much the owner of each product thought their product was and this method held for hundreds of years. It is ironic that in this day and age, the Commodity Forex Online Trading Market is still based on a straight bartering exchanging system. Of course, today, the value of each currency is floated and thus independently determined, as opposed to how it was not so long ago when Forex was introduced.

Unlike traditional purchases, a currency is sought as a sign of investment in it’s country’s economy. The stronger the economy, the safer the trader is that his/her newly acquire currency will not only hold its current value but possibly be even stronger in the future. At times, a trader might forecast that a particular country is due for an upturn in its economy and decide to purchase currency from that very country.

The Commodity Forex Online Market is not only the largest in the world, but it is also unique in that it doesn’t have a physical geographical location, nor does it rely on a central exchange entity. Forex Trading is considered an over the counter market and does not have any restrictions in boundaries. Trading takes place through a network of computers communicating with each other, within a network of banks, 24 hours a day.

In the old days, back in the late 1990’s Commodity Forex Market was reserved for banks and large financial institutions who had the funds to be able to invest the required millions of US Dollars as “working capital”. Today, things have changed drastically since, through the rise of the Internet, smaller retailers and indeed moms and pops operations can trade in the Commodity Forex Online Trading Market.

Not only is the Commodity Forex Online Trading Business now accessible to all, but with the advent of technology, one doesn’t even have to have any prior knowledge of Forex to become an expert and successful trader. Indeed software such as Forex Killer make it now possible to bypass completely the learning curve and enter into this new and exciting market as a true expert.

You too can start to trade and earn a substantial income with Commodity Forex Online Trading. In order to do so, please download Forex Killer and give it a spin.

If you see that your retirement time is fast approaching, now is the time to make sure that you are totally prepared for your later years. Far too many individuals wait until it is too late to begin to plan. The fact that you are planning to retire in Mexico is a huge step in the right direction. Not only is the weather beautiful almost all of the time, it is also one of the least expensive places around the world to spend your retirement years. Add to that the fact that the people are generally friendly and the atmosphere relaxed, and you have a winning combination.

You might be surprised to learn that there are almost 500,000 individuals that are now living a retired life in Mexico which are from other countries. They have discovered the same thing that you probably have discovered, the fact that Mexico is the ultimate retirement location. There are several things that you need to keep in mind, however, whenever you are preparing your retirement in Mexico. Although some additional planning will be necessary, keeping these things in mind will help you to make a good decision.

First of all, you need to decide what area of Mexico you’re going to retire in. There are several different choices but it also depends a lot on what you plan on doing with your retirement. If you plan on spending most of your time kicking back and enjoying some relaxation, perhaps a beachfront retirement home would be something that you would enjoy. If, however, you decide that you want to be more active in your retirement than Mexico can certainly provide you with what you need as well. There are several different cultural centers that offer you everything from museums and fine dining to an interesting night life that you can enjoy.

Some very popular retirement destinations for expats from all over the world include:

* Rincon de Guayabitos, a laid-back beach community in the State of Nayarit, north of Puerto Vallarta;

* Ajijic, a small city in the Sierra Madre mountains, bordering the shores of Lake Chapala, near Guadalajara;

* San Miguel de Allende, a bustling historic town, recognized for its art and culture, in Central Mexico

* Baja, California, the peninsula south of the United States, hosts several top retirement communities, like La Paz and Loreto.

Don’t think that retiring to Mexico is limited to these areas; there are many comfortable and affordable towns and cities to consider all over Mexico.

Once you decide where you’ll make your move, you are also going to need to figure out all of the legal requirements that are necessary. Preparing for your retirement in Mexico is more than just moving to another country. You need to take sure that you have your immigration papers in order. Your insurance needs to be taken care of as well as any banking needs that you might have.

As long as you plan in advance, however, you can enjoy a fantastic retirement in Mexico. It’s a great place to spend your later years.

You might not outright ‘hate’ your job, but if you don’t enjoy going to work each day, you might want to figure out why. No one loves work all the time, but if you find that your job is dragging you down rather than lifting you up, you should take notice.

Many unhappy workers wind up feeling frustrated and defeated by their jobs, when in fact the real reason they dread work, is that they’re working way under their potential.

Ask yourself-–

1) Do you feel unfulfilled in your current job?

2) Are you bored and stressed at work?

3) Do you find it difficult to be passionate about your work?

4) Are you tired of your day-to-day work routine?

5) Is there anything you do in your job that fascinates you?

Whether you’ve been working for one or 20-years, the key to finding the right place for you is in first determining your own natural genius. Don’t stop and say you’re not a genius – everyone has a natural genius, but many of us simply don’t know what it is.

Genius is the expression of our unique set of exceptional abilities. The trouble is that we don’t always take the time — or have the encouragement — to find out what those genius abilities really are. Often, we are drawn to a particular area of work that somehow helps us bring out our genius, but unless we intentionally dial in, we remain on the periphery of our genius and never hit the bull’s-eye.

If you are one of the many who doesn’t really know your unique set of exceptional abilities, review the following list of five clues for natural genius. Think about what you do that fits any of these criteria, and you can start glimpsing what your genius might be.

Five Clues for Natural Genius

1. You do it easily.

2. You feel a deep satisfaction.

3. You are recognized with a natural authority.

4. You dismiss acknowledgement easily because you seem to do it too effortlessly.

5. You don’t understand when others have a much harder time doing the same thing.

Genius stays hidden because most people never learn what their genius is. Instead, they perform on the edge of their genius, but not in the core. This impacts more than their enjoyment; it affects their earning power. Genius is often associated with sacrifice, but the opposite is true. Those who resist their genius pay the greatest price by working in jobs just to cover their bills, but never truly prospering.

Manifesting your genius means learning what it is, applying your genius in a field that matches it and benefiting by becoming an expert or specialist. In the professional market- place, the specialists command the highest fees. They also love their work.

Geniuses are not satisfied with just paying their bills. They may enjoy their lifestyle, but they don’t live for it. Why? They are fully alive in doing work that means something to them. Many of us sleepwalk through our work, driven by the need for financial security or recognition, but not satisfying our core passion. Geniuses are on fire. They are positioned to be the most successful people in the world. Geniuses can measure their reward in terms of income, quality of life and personal satisfaction. It’s quite a compelling equation.

Are you applying for a new job but are not thrilled about the work it might entail? You may be seeking an entry-level position and don’t want to be someone’s assistant, yet you know it’s a necessary step to getting your foot in the door.

If you feel this way, don’t be discouraged as you are not the first to experience this sentiment. However, in order to avoid expressing disinterest in the job before you’re ever interviewed you might want to redirect these feelings. One way to do this is by creating a passionate cover letter that can help you develop enthusiasm that doesn’t yet exist. Let’s look at some ways to get started …

Know Why You’re Applying

One way to get started is by exploring the reasons you’re applying for the job. In reality you might be applying because you really need the money, or because you want to move up the corporate ladder. However, try not to focus on these ideas and instead dig a little deeper to find your passion.

For example, if you’re applying for a clerical job with a company that you really want to work for – yet you hate clerical work – think of some specifics you might enjoy about the position. You might love working on a computer and working with people. Or you might simply enjoy learning something new. Whatever those specifics are, try to focus your energy on them in a positive way so that your feelings can shine through in your words.

Find Out What the Company Wants in an Employee

Another way to bring out the passion in your cover letter is by studying the company’s job posting and visiting their corporate mission for more information on their goals. By doing this, you can wrap your mind around what they’re looking for in an employee, which is a great way to better align your goals and interests with theirs.

Of course, you don’t want to take their message word-for-word, making it obvious that you’re using their ideas as your own. Instead, you can simply take their concepts and, in your own words, define how you will fit into their corporate structure. Taking this step can help you speak directly to their heart in language they understand while helping you better determine whether you and the company are truly a match.

Maintain Professionalism

While you’re divulging your enthusiasm for the position, it is a good idea to make sure that your passionate cover letter remains as professional as possible. For example, saying “I have waited my entire life for a job like this!” might sound disingenuous or naive to a prospective employer who knows the job will be tough. So instead, try writing, “This position perfectly rounds out my goals in the marketing profession and will offer me an excellent opportunity to serve a wider client base efficiently.” In doing so, you sound enthusiastic about the job opportunity while maintaining a professional tone.

By taking on one or more of the above suggestions, you can create a passionate cover letter that expresses your desire to make a difference in the company – even if you’re not yet excited about it. So dig for that passion, express it well, and let your cover letter guide you to your next great job opportunity.

A crime analyst is as important to the criminal justice field as the police officers who make the arrest. This profession is one of the most interesting and intriguing fields of study that is available. If you think you would be interested in becoming one, read on to find out just how exciting and fulfilling this position can be.

This analyzer of crimes performs many roles and duties. In this article, I will discuss those roles and duties. In no order of importance, they are:

1. The crime analyst is available for law enforcement to detect patterns in crimes so they can be linked with other crimes of the same pattern. This may tell law enforcement officers that this particular crime is being committed by the same person.

In addition to detecting patterns, they may be able to see a trend that will stop this offender from committing other crimes.

2. Crime analysts use another research tool in searching for known offenders when faced with crimes of a certain nature, such as child molesters. Every long term criminal has certain aspects that are attributed to the crimes he or she commits. This is called the modus operandi.

When a crime is committed using a certain modus operandi, the first person the analyst will look at is the criminal who uses this method. This will allow police officers to question this person as to their whereabouts when the crime they are investigating was committed.

3. The analyst also investigates and distributes information they may uncover about trends in crimes. This allows police officers to use their resources to come up with solutions to certain problems. When the analyst and the police officers work together, the apprehension of criminals is much more likely.

4. In addition to searching for criminals, the crime analyst will generate reports for the police agency on how well their system is working. How many man hours the department is using, an analysis of all the complaints communicated to police officers is analyzed and prepared as a report for the appropriate agency.

5. Generating reports on how the police activity will rise or fall with the future is another job that crime analysts perform. This enables law enforcement agencies to prepare for the future. If the prediction is that crime will rise, then the agency must look into hiring more police officers.

6. Community surveys on certain matters have to be analyzed and reports filed with the appropriate department. The police department on a whole depends on the analyst to detect and predict a host of information to help them do their job.

As you can see, the crime analyst performs a lot of roles and duties when it comes to crime prevention, apprehension, and implementation. The position is one of the most interesting in the criminal justice field. There are many more responsibilities that are undertaken by crime analyst. It is difficult for me to cover them all in this short article.
